The Company was founded at the end of 1990 as a business firm, concentrating on the sale of copper sheets and steel wire rope.

The Company underwent its first expansion in 1994, when it acquired larger storage premises, extended the product range and started focusing as a specialised wholesaler, concentrating on materials for sheeting and draining roofs and copper materials for heating systems. In this period, co-operation with foreign manufacturers in many countries of Central and Western Europe was established. The Company became actively involved in launching some materials and technologies, at that point practically unknown in the market - for example application and technology of processing titanium-zinc in the building industry. The Company was also one of the initiators of an informational campaign in the area of using copper materials for heating, water and gas piping.

The Company underwent a second expansion in 1998 - 1999, when it started establishing a network of its own retail warehouses. The first branch began to boom on the other side of the Czech Republic - in Protivín, in 1994. Moreover, in 1996 a plant producing nails, rivets, cover caps, approx. 10 km from Turnov, in the village of Tatobity - Žlábek, was put into operation. The Company continued the positive trend of developing its own retail warehouses after a two-year break. In 1998 the construction of three warehouses began- in Jablonec nad Nisou, Hradec Králové and Pardubice. Other branches were built in Mladá Boleslav in 1999 and in Prague, a year later. At the end of 2001 a warehouse in České Budějovice was opened, with the target of partially relieving the branch in Protivín. The last branch, so far, was built in Příbram and opened in July 2003.

In 2001, the Company focused on building its own suitable storage premises of the central warehouse in Turnov. The modern and functional logistics centre will form a stable base for the Company development in future years. In 2002, the construction of a new plant producing nails, rivets and cover caps was commenced in these grounds. In summer 2003, the nail-producing plant moved from the old premises in Žlábek into the central warehouse in Turnov.

The Company concentrated on maintaining, and if possible strengthening, its position in the market. In order to achieve this goal, it used the following tools.

  1. It focused on wider application of the B2B marketing method, which had proved right also in the previous years, and together with the services, which the Company offers to its customers (cutting made-to-measure materials, transportation and consultation services - etc.), this is one of the most effective weapons against the pressure of competitors, whose business policy is mostly based on a lower price.
  2. By more balanced distribution of sales of Rheinzink, by increasing the sales of copper and aluminium sheets and sales of Lindab, Rannila and Vikam roof systems, the Company has been successfully managing to increase the overall volume of sales.
